Our adventure this month includes Eleanor's Star and the Friendship Block. We're expanding our skills and making progress with our sampler blocks!
Eleanor's Star begins with a square-in-a-square unit for the center and pieced triangles for the dynamic star points. This one would be a beauty to create several blocks for a whole quilt for the summer. Wouldn't it be festive in patriotic colors?
With the Friendship Block we return to our flying geese with a twist - the background fabric is in the "geese" position and two contrasting fabrics are in the "sky". As you cut your fabrics, you'll find that we're cutting enough to make two blocks! Why? The technique to make the two fabric "sky" geese results in mirror image units (remember from the Flying Geese block), and when you're finished, you'll have a block for your Forty Fabulous Years quilt and a block for a friend.
Let's enjoy learning how to make these beautiful blocks!

Laurie will have a sample of each of the rulers mentioned available for your classroom use - realize this may require sharing with others. Also available in the classroom for your use are ironing boards, irons, large cutting mats and rotary cutters.
