String Quilting - Diamonds Are Forever - Private Class

It's time to use up some of those scrap fabrics that you've been saving up and haven't known what to do with.  Use a focus fabric, a stabilizer, and left over fabric scraps to make blocks and then assemble them to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, string quilt.

Each block will be 8 1/2", so they will finish 8" in your quilt.  We will make a minimum of four blocks in class so you can get familiar with the assembly process.

In class we'll cover the following techniques:

  • Cutting the Sheer Delite stabilizer to get the most blocks per yard
  • Using the Star Point Ruler to cut out the Star Points from the Focus Fabric -
  • Marking the stabilizer blocks for sewing on the focus fabric and strips/strings
  • Cutting various strip sizes
  • Aligning and sewing the strips onto the stabilizer blocks
  • Squaring up the finished 8 1/2" blocks

    Please bring to class:
  • Your custom Star Point Ruler (available for $8 in class at the store) or template plastic and permanent marker to make your own.
